Sporting Footwear
It is essential that footwear for sports and activities is suited to your foot as much as to the activity. If you have problems with ankle inversion injuries, forefoot pain, Achilles tendon problems, fallen arches or plantar fasciitis these can all be exacerbated by inappropriate footwear. Conversely, a well chosen and fitted pair of shoes or boots can help to alleviate the problem. If the foot needs support from an orthotic device (see link) then this can often be accommodated within the shoe or boot, provided it is fitted by someone who understands more than just the price of the shoe or the number of “go-faster” stripes.
Mr Bowyer highly recommends a sports shop which is located just over a mile from the Wessex Nuffield Hospital, in Chandlers Ford. “Up and Running” is able to give advice on various athletic and sports footwear, and assess your foot biomechanics.
This link is intended and offered as an aid to patients, and Mr Bowyer neither seeks nor receives any financial benefits from the shop concerned.
